I have been ordering the usual Rosu or Hire Katsu Set from Yabu in SM Megamall for quite some time now. Though I do love the Rosu and Hire, this time I wanted to try something new, that was when I saw the Deluxe Seafood Mixed Set.
I did have second thoughts of ordering it since it costs 595 Pesos for a single order. But seeing that it includes a diversified seafoods such as Prawn, Salmon, Oyster and Cream Dory with refillable Japanese Rice, Miso Soup, Cabbage and Fruits my gastronomic brain made the decision. So I ordered it with a can of regular Coca-Cola.
While waiting the staff provided the grinding saucer with roasted sesame seeds. Pinay Travelista said that grinding the sesame seeds felt therapeutic. Then we poured the Tonkatsu Sauce and mixed.
Then my order arrived and we took pictures first. Here’s the breakdown of my order.
The things that I love about the Deluxe Seafood Mixed Set
The Cream Dory was as expectedly really creamy and soft. Delicious.
On the Prawn, I loved how somewhat “hard” the meat of the prawn is. Enough softness and hardness for me to feel biting it. Delicious.
The Salmon was delicious too. Just like how I imagined a fried salmon with breading is.
The soy sauce and the white sauce were good sauce for the Cream Dory, Salmon and Prawn. The mixture of Tonkatsu Sauce and grinded sesame seeds were good for the seafoods too.
Refillable Cabbage, Fruits, Miso Soup and Rice. And they were delicious. Fruits were sweet.
The things that I do not like about the Deluxe Seafood Mixed Set
The Oyster was not really into my taste. I’m not sure why. Maybe I’m not just into Breaded Fried Oysters. I tried adding the lemon, soy sauce, white sauce and tonkatsu sauce but still it was not to my liking.
Or maybe I’m not just used to the taste yet.
Will I order another Deluxe Mixed Seafood Set?
Everything was perfect except for the Oyster. Looking at the menu of Yabu there seems to be no alternative if I wanted to just order the Prawn, Cream Dory and Salmon. Since there’s no alternative I would still order it and maybe stay away from the Oyster.
If they have something in their menu with only the Prawn, Cream Dory and Salmon without the Oyster, then that is what I will order.
Anyways, I look forward to dining in Yabu again and ordering their other items.
By the way the price of the Deluxe Seafood Mixed Set of 595 Pesos still does not include the 10% Service Charge.
